The suspension of tackle Jordan Black for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy (whatever he might have used to trigger a positive test) as left the Redskins’ offensive line in a pretty bad way heading into Week 16.

It also left the Redskins with an open roster spot, although they’ve chosen not to fill it with another player at the same position. The Redskins announced Wednesday that they have signed linebacker Vic So’oto off of the Packers’ practice squad. He’ll be with the team for at least the next two weeks and would spend a guaranteed third week on the roster if they make it to the playoffs by virtue of the rules concerning signing players off of other teams’ practice squads.

So’oto has bounced on and off the Green Bay practice squad over the last two years. He was an undrafted rookie in 2011 and wound up playing seven games for the team, recording one sack, and was released in September of this year. He was signed by the Raiders, for whom he played four games, then returned to the Packers after Oakland moved in another direction.

If So’oto is active, he’ll likely see most of his time on special teams barring an injury to one of the Redskins’ other linebackers.
