Donald Jones not talking about illness that ended his season

Earlier this week, the Bills placed receiver Donald Jones on the season-ending non-football illness list.

But Jones isn’t talking about the illness that ended his season.

I can’t really speak on it right now,” Jones said Thursday, according to Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News. “Once I go see the doctors and get a chance to talk to everybody and gather everything together, I’m sure more will come out then.”

It sounds like Jones isn’t completely sure what the problem is. “I’ll definitely have a full offseason and come back to do football stuff,” Jones said. “The people that I’m going to deal with are top-of-the-line doctors. They’ll get everything back together, and I’m sure they’ll be able to get a better understanding and get everything under control.”

Jones has had the best season of his career, with 41 catches, 443 receiving yards, and four touchdowns.

“I’ve got to go home and get right and get everything healthy and get back on the field and be strong for everybody,” Jones said.

Skurski points out that Jones learned he had a “minor kidney disorder” prior to the 2010 draft, something to which Jones attributes the fact he went unselected. It’s unknown whether his current condition is in any way related.

Jones is due to become a restricted free agent in March. If the Bills don’t sign him to a new contract or extend one of the various RFA tender offers, Jones will be able to sign elsewhere.
