Jerry Jones: “No thoughts” of replacing Jason Garrett

On Sunday, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that the Cowboys would not be changing coaches after the end of the season.

After Sunday’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Saints, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that he had not heard Glazer’s report concerning Jason Garrett’s future with the organization but wound up confirming up all the same. Jones said he’s “real pleased” with the job Garrett has done this season and explained that there’s no change on the horizon.

“I didn’t hear that and have not even thought about anything different than Jason being our coach. That’s the only response that I have to it,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Seriously, and I’ll be real serious about it, I have no thoughts about making a coaching change.”

A terrible loss to the Redskins next week could give birth to some thoughts, but it’s gotten harder to see the Cowboys making such a major change after the way they’ve played since falling to 3-5 this season. The team certainly didn’t quit on Garrett and a win next week still makes them the division winners, something that didn’t seem possible at midseason.

That reflects well on Garrett and explains why no one seems to be thinking about a change in Dallas this offseason.
