Green Bay Packers defensive back Charles Woodson hasn’t played since mid-October due to a broken collarbone.
Woodson has appeared close to returning for the last several weeks only to have team doctors say he has yet to be cleared to return. What was initially supposed to be a six-week injury has now kept Woodson sidelined for 10 weeks as head coach Mike McCarthy has ruled him out for the Packers season-finale at Minnesota this Sunday.
According to Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Woodson is adamant he hasn’t had a setback and they are just playing it on the safe side.
“There’s nothing going on, just holding out,” Woodson said. “Everything’s looking good but I just think the longer you can hold it off, then I guess the better it is. So we’re just waiting.”
Woodson believes he’ll be ready to go when the playoffs get under way. He may even get an extra week to rest as the Packers can earn a bye and the No. 2 seed in the NFC with a victory over the Vikings or a San Francisco loss to the Arizona Cardinals and a Seattle loss to St. Louis.
Woodson has 38 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in seven games for Green Bay this season.
