Vernon Davis cleared for non-contact activity

Vernon

49ers tight end Vernon Davis sustained a concussion during Sunday night’s loss to the Seahawks. On Thursday, he took a significant step toward returning to action.

Davis was cleared by an independent neurologist to resume non-contact activities, according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

The 49ers will eventually put Davis through a contact drill. If he has no concussion symptoms, he’ll then be referred to the independent neurologist for final clearance.

The 49ers host the Cardinals on Sunday. If San Fran loses, they also could lose both a first-round bye and the division title.
