Falcons finally admit Dunta Robinson has a concussion

Dunta

The Falcons’ decision to play their starters in a meaningless game has resulted in injuries to two of them. As to the player who left the loss to Tampa in the first quarter, the Falcons finally have admitted that cornerback Dunta Robinson suffered a concussion.

Actually, they’ve yet to admit directly that he has a concussion.

It was called a “head injury” at the time, with no updates provided until coach Mike Smith met with the media on Monday. Smith acknowledged in response to reporters’ questions that Robinson is “in the concussion protocol,” which necessarily means that he has suffered a concussion.

Smith added that Robinson is moving “quickly” through the concussion protocol, and that he expects Robinson to be available when the Falcons host a divisional-round game on Sunday, January 13. They’ll face the Vikings, Seahawks, or Redskins.

In the end, the decision as to Robinson’s availability will be made by an independent neurologist.
