Peyton Manning ended his comeback season with a flourish, leading the Broncos to five wins in five tries, and the quarterback has been named the AFC offensive player of the month as a result.

Manning also took home the honor in October and this win leaves him with six of the monthly awards for his career. That’s tied with six other players for the most in the NFL since they started handing them out in 1986.

Manning had a 108.4 quarterback rating in the five December victories and completed just over 70 percent of his passes for the month. He threw for 1,399 yards and 11 touchdowns as the Broncos put the finishing touches on a regular season that left them as the top seed in the AFC heading into the playoffs. According to a release from the Broncos, Manning is just the third quarterback in history to go undefeated in the final month of the season with a completion percentage of at least 70 percent while throwing for at least 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson looks like a good bet for NFC honors this month, which would help set the stage even more as Manning and Peterson square off for MVP and comeback player of the year awards that each of them have built compelling cases for this season.
