No talks yet between Frazier, Vikings

At the start of the 2012 season, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier was on the hot seat, a year removed from a 3-13 debut season.

Now, he’s not.  But he also doesn’t have much job security.

Despite reports and speculation that Frazier will be getting a new contract, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that no talks of any kind have occurred between Frazier and the Vikings.

Frazier is signed only through 2013.  If the Vikings can win a playoff game or two, his price could go up.

  1. Next year determines Spielmans and Fraziers fate with the Vikings. Unless they win the SuperBowl then both will be extended 3 years. The Wilf’s have learned from extending and guaranteeing brad Childress’ contract, basically paying Chilly to coach the Browns offense. They won’t make that mistake again.

  2. I can’t see the Vik’s giving him more if they feel they may cut him lose after next season. All the teams that fired these coaches more than likely have to eat millions of dollars as well as pay the incoming staff. If Minnesota can get by until the end of next season then Frazier will either be paid a kings ransom or he’ll be seeking employment elsewhere. I think the owners wanna see if he can really get the job done or if this year was a fluke. It would be the smart move for ownership to wait. Leslie has zero leverage in a position that several others would sell their children to have so it’s gonna fall on him to earn that new cheddar!

  3. I quit being a Vikes fan because I hated Childress so much. Worst coach ever!!! If Frazier sticks with Ponder then he deserves to be let go. Tonight is a big game. If Webb leads the Vikes over my Packers, will they give up on Ponder? Viking fans should hope so.

  4. Leslie Frazier, yeah right. Take away AP and see what you got. At least Childress was building something until those two clowns, Moss and Favre came to town.
