Rice’s ability to make Flacco look good helps Ravens to lead

OK, emotion is all well and good, but at some point somebody’s going to have to play football.

The Ravens lead the Colts 10-6 tie at halftime, in a game that somebody’s going to have to win for the right to get shelled by the Broncos next week.

Neither quarterback is playing particularly well at the moment, but Ravens running back Ray Rice just took another short Joe Flacco pass and turned it into a long run, reminiscent of his fourth-and-29 conversion against the Chargers. Fullback Vonta Leach scored the game’s only touchdown on the next play for the lead.

The Colts are playing a tight game, with quarterback Andrew Luck having some rookie moments. He’s lost a fumble and threw an interception that Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis just dropped, but he just moved his team into position for a 52-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal as time expired.

If the game is this close in the final moments, there’s no doubt which quarterback you trust more.
