Jordy Nelson expected to practice Thursday

Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson missed practice again on Wednesday, but coach Mike McCarthy expressed confidence that the team will be at full strength at wide receiver come Saturday’s game against the 49ers.

Nelson wasn’t on the field on Tuesday, either, after limping off the field late in last weekend’s win over the Vikings. McCarthy said after Wednesday’s practice that Nelson’s been “fighting though” his injury and that he expects to get him back to work on Thursday.

Nelson has battled hamstring, ankle and knee issues at various points this season and isn’t likely to be 100 percent again this season. That likely means a more limited role than he’d play in an ideal situation, but the Packers certainly have enough depth at the spot to avoid pushing Nelson too far.

Wide receiver Randall Cobb also missed practice on Wednesday. He’s got the flu so was sent home to rest and there’s no expectation that his status for Saturday is at risk.
