As the Jets prepare to hire a successor to Tony Sparano as offensive coordinator, the list of candidates stands at three.

Per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, they are former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, Bengals assistant Hue Jackson, and former Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.

All three men once served as head coaches, with Mornhinweg in Detroit, Jackson in Oakland, and Cameron in Miami. Of the trio, Mornhinweg last the longest at two years.

Their experience as head coaches could make them candidates for the interim head-coaching job, if the 2013 Jets fail miserably and Rex Ryan is fired during the season.

Jackson’s presence could put the Jets in play for Carson Palmer, if he’s cut by the Raiders. If Mornhinweg gets the job, speculation linking Mike Vick to the Jets will increase. Either way, the Jets will still have to deal with Mark Sanchez’s contract, which pays him a fully-guaranteed $8.25 million in 2013, with no offset.
