Pep Hamilton on Colts radar to replace Arians

As the Colts try to replace offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, they’re going to start with a guy who has already proven to be able to handle what they do.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Stanford offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton is “a leading candidate” to take over the same job in Indianapolis.

Hamilton’s actual title at Stanford is “Andrew Luck Director of Offense,” since the position was endowed by an anonymous donor who wanted to honor the former Stanford and now-Colts quarterback. That makes it sound more academic, I suppose.

Hamilton was also mentioned as a candidate for the Jets coordinator job, but his familiarity with Luck (and the fact he’s Andrew Luck and not Mark Sanchez) probably makes the Colts job a better fit.
