What has been speculated for days is now official, as former Bears defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has joined the Cowboys as defensive line coach.

The team announced the move, which was expected from the time Marinelli told new Bears coach Marc Trestman “it’s not you, it’s me.”

Marinelli spent 10 years as defensive line coach in Tampa Bay under new Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

With the Cowboys shifting from a 3-4 to Kiffin’s Tampa 2, he’s going to need trusted help to teach the scheme, and there are few he has more background with than Marinelli.
