Reggie McKenzie mum on plans for Rolando McClain

McClain

In a recent sit-down with several members of the media, Raiders G.M. Reggie McKenzie didn’t discourage any questions. For some , however, he politely declined to give a substantive answer.

McKenzie was particularly mum regarding linebacker Rolando McClain, who was recently arrested for applying a false name (he signed “F--k Y’all” on the dotted line) during a window-tint traffic stop.

The second-year G.M. opted not to respond to the question of whether there has been a resolution regarding McClain, who was suspended two games during the 2012 season for conduct detrimental to the team. “I don’t want to kind of give any information out,” McKenzie said.

McKenzie said that McClain “was not an issue” after his suspension, and that neither McKenzie nor coach Dennis Allen have talked to -- or plan to talk to -- McClain about the latest arrest.

It’s unclear whether McClain’s status is influenced the cap hit the Raiders would absorb from cutting him. McKenzie hinted that, in 2012, the Raiders’ $30 million cap excess may have saved McClain from being released.
