The first seven drives of the AFC Championship Game ended with six punts and a Patriots field goal. The eighth drive was a different story.
Baltimore marched down the field on a 13-play, 90-yard drive at the start of the second quarter, culminating with Ray Rice turning the corner around the left side of the line and reaching the end zone on a two-yard touchdown run.
That drive saw Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco finally get comfortable throwing downfield after being unable to get anything going in the first quarter. Flacco had a 25-yard completion to Torrey Smith, who is emerging in these playoffs as a major deep threat for the Ravens.
Tom Brady and the Patriots’ offense have moved the ball well, but they’ve stalled in Ravens territory. After a big Ravens drive, the Patriots need to answer.
