Report: Tom Moore joining Cardinals staff

When Tom Moore’s consulting gig with the Titans came to an end, he said he wanted another job in the NFL for the coming season.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Moore is going to be part of Bruce Arians’ staff in Arizona. Moore won’t be offensive coordinator — Harold Goodwin is leaving his post as Colts offensive line coach to take that job — but will be the assistant head coach-offense for the Cardinals.

Arians was a quarterbacks coach under Moore in Indianapolis from 1998-2000, a period when the Colts were developing Peyton Manning into one of the league’s best quarterbacks. The roles are different, but developing even an above-average quarterback in the next couple of years would be a pretty big step in the right direction for the Cardinals.

La Canfora also reports that veteran defensive assistant coach Tom Pratt will be part of the staff concentrating on the pass rush. The Cardinals led the league with 58 sacks during the 2012 season, giving Pratt some good material to work with heading into next season.

  1. As a Cards Fan I have to admit I’m a bit skeptical with the hiring of Bruce Arians and, more importantly, the loss of Coach Horton. However, nothing but good things can come from having Tom Moore on-board, so I’m liking this move.

  2. I think this staff is just what the Cardinals need… However, I still think Wiz could have done the job with just an average NFL quarterback.

  3. Arians knows the Biz. He knows who specialist are in certain fields of play. May be 60 yrs old but with that much time and experience in the game itself he seems to be putting a good crew together. I like multiple assistants idea. I’m giving him a thums up so far. People need to get over the Horton thing Horton got pist cause he didn’t get the HC gig and pouted and asked out so he was released.

  4. I still say he’s a better choice for OC than Pep…

We drafted that bust Coby Fleener to make Luck more comfortable in the pros and we all saw how that turned out.

We lost a VERY smart guy in Arians.

    #smh.. GO COLTS

  5. Because when people think ‘offensive powerhouse’, they think ‘Tennessee Titans’. Keep up the good work Cards!
