Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh might have ended up in Hawaii anyway, but it became official last night when the 49ers advanced to the Super Bowl.

Suh will replace Justin Smith of the 49ers in the Pro Bowl. Even if Atlanta had won, Smith’s partially torn triceps would have been more than enough injury to get him out of the game, since many players have gotten out with less.

Suh led all NFC defensive tackles with 8.0 sacks this year, second-most in the league.

Suh’s making his second appearance in three years, the best start to a career for a Lion since Barry Sanders, who made it all 10 of his seasons.
