Within the next day, the football-following world will turn its attention to the 2013 season. And in less than three months, the full schedule of 256 regular-season games will be announced.
The jockeying for prime TV real estate already is beginning. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the networks have asked the NFL and the NFL has asked the Redskins about the expected date on which Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will be ready to play following a serious knee injury suffered four weeks ago today.
But there’s no way of knowing with certainty in April the status of Griffin come September, which could mean that any potential prime-time dates for D.C.'s team will be delayed until deeper into the season.
Regardless of when Griffin is ready to play, Schefter reports that Griffin is nearly certain to open training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, like Vikings running back Adrian Peterson did in 2012.
Redskins fans will be elated if the similarities don’t end there.
