Jacoby Jones bought a bunch of couches last night

Jacoby Jones earned a place in Super Bowl history with his record-breaking 108-yard kickoff return.

But somebody got a free couch out of the deal, too.

According to Jill Rosen of the Baltimore Sun, a local furniture store had to give away $600,000 worth of furniture after a promotion in which customers who bought stuff between Jan. 31 until 3 p.m. Sunday would be refunded if the Ravens returned a kickoff for a touchdown to start the game or third quarter.

That was amazing!” Gardiners Furniture posted on its Facebook page right after the Jones touchdown. “Furniture is FREE! If you made a purchase this weekend, it’s your lucky day. Go Ravens!”

The store’s advertising and marketing manager, Kasee Lehrl, said she couldn’t believe it happened.

“We’re obviously thrilled,” she said. “So exciting. . . .

“It’s great for the Ravens, great for our customers and great for Gardiners.”

It’s better for the people who got free furniture, and only bad for the insurance company that has to pay off on the policy the store bought against such an event happening.

  1. Does anyone think it’s kind of funny The Texans gave up on both Trindon Holiday (4 total return TD’s in 2012-2013) & Jacoby Jones (4 total return TD’s in 2012-2013)?

  2. @ Ravenator

Enjoy it while it lasts, but you still need 4 more rings to even be considered among the best franchises in the league. Enjoy your second one youngster.

  3. Need four more rings? Your team is no longer relevant same goes for your psots. Where do you come up with this? We’ve been around since 1996, two superbowls, feel free to let me know when your team is still relevant

  4. otto: by the time the ravens have been in the lg as long as your soory franshise they will get four more. Show some respect. Its a great day in western pa btw. Steeler fans our sour

  5. Keep hating steelers trolls and did I catch a redskins fan in here hating too? Keep the tears coming.

The Baltimore Ravens are world champions!

    Deal with it.

  6. If it wasn’t for the greatness of Mr. Davis telling Rooney to keep Bradahaw you would only have 2 rings.

  7. Hey Otto, as such a sage NFL historian, you should know that the NFL existed before 1969, and that the City of Baltimore has 5 NFL Championships, not 2.

  8. Hey Ravenator, do you have a job?? I think your obsessed with this sight. yell upstairs to your mother and tell her to throw the Classifides down, Burger King has openings for your skill set.

  9. 4 more rings hahahaha Steeler fans always use that in defense of their lack of performance…even Niner fans arent jumping on here saying “5 rings” all the time prolly because they are Niner faithful and Steeler fans are bandwagoners!!! Great Job Ravens!!!

  10. Men I though vox veritas, voice of reason are annoying but ravenator is up there with them. I live and do support the Ravens win or loose life goes on. Blast I bought furniture from them a couple of weeks ago.

  11. hey patriots fan – you should probably learn to spell words correctly before talking trash. I heard Hooked on Phonics works. Oh and Ravens own the Patriots. Cheers!

  12. Dang! If I lived anywhere near Baltimore, I would have gone for that. Great story.

The Ravens have now returned kickoffs for the touchdowns in both their Super Bowls. I guess if they go back next year, there won’t be any furniture stores putting that offer up again!

  13. The wife said, hey its free if this happens, should we go buy some furniture. Me- no, its happened only once before, it will never happen……

She has reminded me about this several times.

  14. As a Ravens fan, I love hearing the Steelers fans remind everyone how many titles they have — mean while their organization is older than dirt, they better have more than us…but we’re coming

  15. Congrats to the Ravens & their fans. If u think about it the Packers are the #1 NFL team. Not only do we have 13 Championships but every team wants a piece of Packers history. Before u start hate’n think about the name of the Super Bowl Trophy. It’s named after our former head coach Vince Lombardi. GO PACK GO!!!
