Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that the knee injury defensive tackle Haloti Ngata suffered in the Super Bowl wasn’t serious.

There’s more evidence to that conclusion. Albert Breer of the NFL Network and Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun are both reporting that the MRI performed on Ngata’s left knee confirmed the original suspicion that he sprained the MCL. Ngata doesn’t need surgery and should be fine for all offseason work for the Ravens.

Ngata was injured in the third quarter of the Super Bowl and his absence was clearly felt by the Ravens against the 49ers run game. The injury came at the end of a year filled with other injury problems for Ngata, who missed two games and was limited in others over the course of the season.

He should be fine when it is time to strap the helmets on again, though, and that’s a good thing for the Ravens.
