The Giants cut Chris Canty because they didn’t want to pay him $6.25 million next season.
While he might not make that much anywhere else, he at least has an option now.
According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennesseean, Canty was offered a contract during his visit to the Titans, but will continue to “explore his options.”
Canty’s also going to meet with the Chiefs, and could be of interest to other teams as well.
The 30-year-old defensive tackle struggled with injuries last year, but he’s been a good player throughout his career. The fact he’s scheme-flexible (able to play end in a 3-4 or tackle in a 4-3) makes him more attractive to the market as a whole.
And while he might not earn at his previous rate, he now has a starting point for future negotiations.
