Lucas Oil Stadium lands on Google Maps

Over the past few years, Google Maps has brought plenty of the world’s exterior locations to the rest of the world’s fingertips.

Google Maps is now taking the world inside sports facilities, starting with Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy.

“The Colts organization is honored to have Lucas Oil Stadium selected by Google Maps to be the first sports venue featured in a 360-degree interactive photo tour,” Colts COO Pete Ward said. “This imagery gives us the opportunity to share our home, an award winning state-of-the-art facility, with Colts fans around the world.”

The images allows users to poke around the entire stadium, from the seating areas to the tunnels to the suites.

It’s a neat feature, but the fact that it’s empty makes it far less compelling that the incredible panoramic view of the inside of the Superdome, during Super Bowl XLVII. If you look closely you’ll find Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Phelps, and Tracy Morgan.
