Peyton already has recruited Freeney

So when former Colts defensive end (and, for one year, linebacker) Dwight Freeney resurfaces, where will it be?

How about Denver?

Freeney said on Wednesday’s PFT Live that quarterback Peyton Manning already has begun the recruitment effort.

“He sent me a text and he just said, ‘Hey man, don’t worry, come play with me in Denver,’' Freeney said. “I don’t know how serious it was but, you know, it’s good to hear some of your former teammates still follow you, they care and they want to see you succeed.”

So would Freeney want to join Peyton again?

“I think they’ve got a couple good pass rushers over there, I don’t know if they
have room for me,” Freeney said.

Freeney is referring to defensive end Elvis Dumervil and linebacker Von Miller. Thus, there may not be enough room -- and cap dollars -- to bring Freeney to town.

Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see where his career takes him. Here’s hoping the wheel of free agency lands on a team that plays the Colts.
