The Giants made a move to solidify themselves entering free agency, signing left tackle Will Beatty to a new five-year contract.

According to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger, the Giants signed Beatty to a deal worth up to $38.75 million, with $12.5 million signing bonus and $19 million fully guaranteed.

The former second-round pick has been a solid player when well, and striking a deal before he hit the market reflects the realities of playing a position with plenty of options.

The Giants also have to deal with left guard Kevin Boothe, and Diehl admitted yesterday his $4.475 salary makes his future uncertain.
