The biggest news of the day in the NFL is the trade of quarterback Alex Smith from the 49ers to the Chiefs.

Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports Network will be bringing you all the latest on the deal on Wednesday afternoon. Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area will talk to Erik Kuselias about the trade from the perspective of the 49ers while the rest of the crew (Mike Florio, Shaun King and Amani Toomer) will cover things on a larger scale.

It won’t just be the Smith trade on Wednesday, though. Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis will also be on the program to talk about what lies ahead for him and the team. Lewis is due to make $4.2 million in 2013, a figure that might be a bit rich considering his middling production in 2012 but General Manager David Caldwell has indicated that there’s a place for Lewis in the team’s offense moving forward.

We’ll ask about that and about what Lewis thinks the future will bring on offense, which is a good way to transition into a discussion of AFC South free agency needs. We’ll also cover the NFC South during a busy hour of football.

The whole thing gets underway at 5 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.
