Brady Quinn could join the Jets

Quinn

So how do the cap-strapped Jets fill out their quarterback depth chart when one of them will make $8.25 million this year, whether he’s on the team or not?

Enter Brady Quinn. (I think I just heard the bowels of every Jets fan simultaneously release.)

Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com connects the dots that could lead the free agent from Kansas City to New York. Last year, the Jets were scheduled to visit with Quinn before they signed Drew Stanton (which, of course, came before they traded for Tim Tebow and then shipped Stanton to Indy).

This year, David Lee is the quarterbacks coach. And Lee has previously raved about Quinn.

“I’m going to tell you this right now: Brady Quinn has a stronger arm than both the Manning brothers,” Lee said two years ago. “No question. I worked them all out.”

Quinn, per Cimini, has told friends that Lee is the best teacher Quinn has ever worked with.

So with the Jets planning to take five quarterbacks to training camp and with three slots going to Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, and Matt Simms, Quinn could be one of the other two. Especially since he’ll undoubtedly carry the kind of low cap number the Jets can afford.
