Being a salary cap cut can be preferable to being a free agent, if only for the jump start on the market.
That’s what’s happening for former Eagles defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins.
According to Derrick Gunn of Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia, Jenkins is meeting with the Giants today.
Jenkins, 32, could step into the void created when the Giants released Chris Canty, who has found a significant market thus far.
While not the star the Eagles signed him to be, Jenkins can be an effective rotation player, and the Giants need to backfill with some of those.
UPDATE 3:45 p.m. ET: Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports the meeting is actually tomorrow, still a nice head start.
