Redskins safety Tanard Jackson continues to serve a suspension that kept him off the field in 2012, and he is reportedly ineligible for reinstatement until August 31.

In the meantime, the Redskins continue to hold Jackson’s rights, Mark Maske of The Washington Post reported on Friday. According to Maske, Jackson’s one-year contract for 2012 holds for 2013, per NFL rules.

Jackson, whose suspension stems from a violation of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, started 56 games for Tampa Bay from 2007 to 2011. His most productive season came in 2009, when he notched 71 tackles and intercepted five passes. However, he missed portions of the 2009 and 2011 seasons and nearly all of 2010 because of suspension before being suspended again last summer.
