Terrell Brown barely played college football, getting on the field for only two games during his senior season at Ole Miss. But 6-foot-10, 388-pound athletes don’t come around very often, and so it’s not surprising that NFL scouts are taking a look at Brown.
Although no Ole Miss players were invited to the Scouting Combine, Gil Brandt of NFL.com reports that representatives from 12 NFL teams were at Mississippi’s Pro Day. Brown was the center of attention.
Brown’s measurements were, of course, amazing. He had 38-inch arms (more than two inches longer than any offensive lineman at the Scouting Combine) and his wingspan is a ridiculous 92 inches, or more than seven and a half feet from hand to hand when his arms are outstretched. He ran a 5.80-second 40-yard dash and managed 22 repetitions at 225 pounds in the bench press.
So can Brown play in the NFL? Probably not. As former Ole Miss offensive coordinator Mike Markuson once said, Brown is almost too huge to play football because he struggles to bend down and get low, he’s not very flexible and he has a hard time getting much burst out of his stance. Ole Miss tried Brown out on both the offensive line and the defensive line, but he spent most of his time on the sideline.
Still, Brown’s size is jaw-dropping. (In the photo, he’s standing next to a nurse during an Ole Miss team visit to a children’s hospital -- yes, that’s a grown woman, not a child.) It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see some team give Brown a shot as an undrafted free agent. And if Brown does make it, he’ll be the biggest player in the NFL.
