The Buccaneers considered using the first-round RFA tender on running back LeGarrette Blount, but they apparently were able to secure him for far less.

As noted by former agent Joel Corry on Twitter, Blount has re-signed with the Bucs for one year.

He’ll make $1.75 million, including $1.25 million in base salary, $350,000 in reporting bonus and a $150,000 workout bonus.

That slots in between the low RFA tender of $1.3 million and the second-round tender of $2.0 million. The first-round tender of $2.8 million would have certainly scared everyone off, but it would have also been too much to pay to a second-option back, who quickly fell behind Doug Martin last year.
