Jets are expected to make a push for Victor Butler

The Jets don’t have the cap space to splurge in free agency.  But a bloodletting at the linebacker position forces them to find replacements.

The guy replacing Calvin Pace could be Cowboys linebacker Victor Butler.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets are targeting Butler during the legal non-tampering tampering window.

A fourth-round pick in 2009, the 245-pound Butler may not be big enough to become a defensive end in the Cowboys’ new 4-3 scheme.

  1. …..And once the Jets sign him, he will immediately be elevated to all pro status and his acquisition will be lauded throughout Jet nation and Pats fans will be told that the “gap is closing” and the Pats are in decline. lol

  2. Yeah well I’m sure we too would have gotten further in the playoffs in 2009 & 2010 if we had a sophisticated cheating by signal lifting scheme and knew what was coming at us. Your history is forever tarnished Patman. Lets see you win it all on the up and up.

As for Butler he may do ok with the Jets D. The main strength I see in Ryan is his ability to bring out the best on the defensive side of the ball in his players, although he has slipped over the last 2 years in that too.

  3. Pats fans cannot get the Jets out of their heads if the Jets went 0-16!

Woody sent the rent yesterday .

  4. This would be a very nice pick up by the Jets. Unfort. due to that screw up Mike T. and the cap HELL he put this team in, the Jets must go after cheaper players. Its not to say they are not good players, they are just coming much cheaper – which is what the Jets need at the moment. Next season will be much different as a few players can come off the books. Idzik is doing a great job thus far and that says a lot considering the cap position we are in.

Manny Lawson is another LB the Jets should look at.
