The Chiefs have struck a deal with Jets defensive lineman Mike DeVito, Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reported Tuesday.

The 6-fo0t-3, 305-pound DeVito recorded 52 tackles for the Jets in 2012. He has started 37 games in the last three seasons.

The Chiefs will run a 3-4 defense in 2013, just as they did a season ago. DeVito was listed as a tackle (though not a nose tackle) on the Jets’ three-player defensive line.

The 28-year-old DeVito is entering his seventh NFL season.

  1. Reid is desperate. Its the reason he had to leave the Eagles. Hes signing players even the Jets dont want.

  2. Sorry to see him go! I guess he wanted too much since the Jets were talking to him. I wonder what he signed for?He was a solid contributor & mentor for the young guys. Thanks Mike for your years in green!

  3. this guy is better than dorsey, i like how the d-line is shaping up with Jackson-Poe-DeVito.

The chiefs have been pretty much killing it all off-season, bravo Clark Hunt

  4. Very saddened by this. Chiefs fans, you’re getting a great guy and leader in the locker room and a guy who can stuff the run and occupy blockers to get your linebackers at the QB.

  5. The Jets management fiddles as New Jersey burns. You need to keep guys like DeVito. Good thing they are working on a Tebow trade that will never happen.
