No deal between Brent Grimes, Falcons

It’s a crazy, upside-down, topsy-turvy day in the NFL.

And so some things are going to fall through the cracks. Which is what happened earlier today, when a report emerged from D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Grimes has agreed to a one-year deal with the Falcons.

There is no deal between the Falcons and Grimes, the result of a miscommunication between Grimes’ agent, Ben Dogra, and Ledbetter.

Everyone is working fast and working hard, and mistakes are inevitable. To his credit, Ledbetter is taking the blame on Twitter. As we understand it, he’s possibly taking too much of the blame.

Bottom lime? Grimes remains on the open market -- and he continues to be a viable fallback for the Bucs, if a trade doesn’t happen for Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.
