Ravens host Chris Canty visit, sign James Ihedigbo

The Ravens are doing a lot of business today, though they haven’t heard word on the biggest part of it.

While they were expected to make their offer to linebacker Dannell Ellerbe today, they’re also proceeding on other fronts.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, they’re hosting former Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty today.

Canty has made stopped with the Titans, Chiefs and Packers. He has experience in a 3-4 from his days with the Cowboys.

The Ravens have also agreed to a one-year deal with safety James Ihedigbo, giving them some cover if Ed Reed leaves.

  1. I’ve never seen haters hate so quickly. Must be all that success the last five years of being the only team to stay relevant and win a world championship. Cheers!

    lol
ravenator meet mirror, mirror, meet ravenator.

LOL! Worry about your own team falling apart cause it’s happening before everyone’s eyes! The Ravens always draft well (steelers last few drafts have blown) plus we don’t restructure multiple contracts every year in order to remain competitive.

  4. This has been the norm in Baltimore forever. When your front office is this good and you draft so well. these problems arise. Eventually you will have to lose some players and move on. A majority of draft picks in Baltimore pan out and actually make major contributions to the team…..unlike many teams whose draft picks never see the field. As for Kruger he was a bust until this year. He will be over paid and be a casualty of being a system player like many Raven player are once they leave the nest.

Wasn’t that what everyone said about the Ravens last year… and the year before…. and the year before that….

Funny people talk out of one side of their mouth and call the Ravens “old” then talk out of the other side and bash them for getting younger….. interesting.

  6. I personally think it would both hilarious and totally awesome if the Browns and Bengals were battling for first while the Ravens and Steelers were battling for last. Shut the two most annoying fan bases up pretty well it would.

  7. I live near Baltimore but I grew up a fan of another team. Though not a ravens fan myself, I agree that the very quick hatred for the Ravens was surprising. I wish Boldin could have stayed, but otherwise this team seems to know what they are doing, for the most part. They have no record outside of Torry Smith of drafting good WR, so replacing Boldin’s production is not obvious for now.

  8. LOL!!! This will put them over the top!!! This team will never have what it takes! HAHAHA

  9. Stop the presses! All is well in luckimore! They’ve reached terms on a one-year contract with James Ihedidgo…whoever the heck that is…

    As the Nest Burns…

    GO STEELERS!

  10. The only team I’ve seen fall apart so fast is the Steelers…8 and 8….that’s embarrassing. Now with Ben’s shoulder totally shot…no Harrison or running backs or Casey Hampton and a Polamalu on his last leg and Woodley at 300 pounds….we know who’s falling apart.

PLUS…we KNOW the Steelers fell apart….not one game has been played in the 2013 season yet…let’s talk about who fell apart after we destroy the Steelers TWICE in this upcoming season. But then again what fun will it be to beat such an AGING Steeler team.

  11. Lol everyone keeps talking about Baltimore falling apart “so quickly.”

They have an emerging star WR in Torrey Smith, an emerging TE probably another Todd Heap in Dennis Pitta, fairly young O-line with plenty of upside and not to meantion a QB that signed for $120M for a reason. Baltimore will be fine.

As far a defense. I see improvement. No old ray, no old Reed and getting one of the better CB’s in the league back?

    They’ll be finnnnnnne

  12. Just in case anybody needed a reminder.

    Last 5 years (total wins/championships):

    Ravens: 63(1)
    Pats: 63(0)
    Green Bay: 58(1)
    Pitt: 58(1)
    Atlanta: 57(0)
    N.O.: 56(1)
    NYG: 52(1)
    Indy: 51(0)

    Yup. Overrated and lucky.

Excellent comment.. That proverbial window has been open and closed every year it seems lol. In 2010 it was “Oh man yall lost Derrick Mason and Todd Heap?? It’s over for yall” Last year it was ” Oh yall lost Ben Grubbs and Cory Redding…yall done messed up” lol

  14. You Steelers fans are a joke! Worry about your own sorry team! I find it laughable that you are taking shots at the CHAMPS! We will restock and see you in the playoffs, if you can beat the Bengals.

If there was ever a way to shut all the Ravens bashers up…this would be it. Men lie women lie but NUMBERS DONT! Through those years we lost Heap, Mason, Jarret Johnson, Redding, Kelly Greg, and many other key contributors like Boldin, yet the numbers show that the Ravens know what they are doing. So go ahead JoeShmo’s, tell me why I should worry about MY team while YOUR team is never coming out my mouth.

  16. Wow, for a team that got Tebowed year before last and didn’t even make the Tourney this past season, steeler fans sure talk allot of noise? Steelers are dropping as quick as the Titanic while the Ravens continue to draft well, and sign reasonable “low cost” free agents. They lose big name guys every year yet are always players. I heard the steelers have redone 11 contracts since 2011?! That’s not the way to play it smart if you’re a GM.

So nobody won a championship the other four years?….such a moron.

For such recent success you raven fans have become very arrogant . One SB in 12 years big deal….win some more and you can talk trash now you are just talking as a rookie…ssshh flies at a picnic.

  19. Great reporting. Ihedigbo is a STRONG safety, not a FREE safety. And Ihedigbo replaced Pollard, a STRONG SAFETY, when he went out with rib injuries.
