Free agent cornerback Jerraud Powers arrived in Arizona Tuesday night for a meeting with the Cardinals and his former coach Bruce Arians.

Powers is very fond of Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians after playing for him last season with the Indianapolis Colts. Arians spent most of the season serving as interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts as Chuck Pagano was sidelined while battling cancer. However, despite his strong relationship with Arians, Powers will still take his scheduled visit to the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday.

Per Michael Gelhken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Powers is still “100 percent” committed to the visit. There is familiarity with the Chargers organization as well as new Chargers general manager Tom Telesco had been the director of player personnel with the Colts for the last six years and had been with the organization since 1998.

Powers has spent his first four seasons in the league with the Colts. He’s started all 42 games he’s appeared in over that span and intercepted six passes in four seasons.

  1. Cards are cheap….they are not going to pay! They had a solid CB Richard Marshall last year….let him walk! They had a solid CB this year in Greg Toler…let him walk! Whoever they bring in….it will be a short stay with no $$$ at the end of the stay!

  2. Finally Chargers curse of the TERRIBLE Norv Turner to replace the fired schottenheimer is lifted.

They have been the NFL’s most under-preforming team in the past few years considering their potential!

too bad their division stands to be upgrading in such a big way.

  3. good riddance Jerraud!! Lands on IR every single year, cant stay healthy. And he was BURNT TOASTED all this past season while he played. Glad he will be some other teams problem this year

  4. I will defend Powers.

Was he injured way to much? Heck yes. But the guy gave it his all whenever he was on the field. I am in the minority as a colts fan but I would love to have him back as our 3 or 4 for the right price. He was the only good part of our secondary for a few years. Colts fan forget to easily how some players just need a change of scenery. Look how Butler worked out for us. or how Jennings and Hayden worked out for the Bears when we wouldve given anything for them to be cut. Now they are both solid and we would love to have them back. Powers wont have a Tim Jennings type of turn around but he will make some team happy.

    Thanks for the memories, Jerraud
