Shaughnessy to visit Cardinals

As the free-agency period continues to unfold (it’s still barely two days old), more and more players are taking visits.

One of them will be defensive end Matt Shaughnessy, who we’re told is on his way to Arizona for a visit with the Cardinals.

Shaughnessy entered the league in 2009 as a third-round pick, started all 16 games last season for the Raiders.  At 6-5 and 285 pounds, Shaughnessy can rush the passer and stop the run.

Don’t rule out a short-term deal for Shaughnessy, a prominent role in 2013, and then a return to the market in 2014, for a bigger payday.

  1. If Nnamdi showed us all anything, its that former Raiders should stay Raiders. They infect the NFL.

  2. @flavordave

If the Eagles have taught us anything, its that Oline coaches dont make good D coordinators. Who would have thought?

It cost your team one of their rare chances at a trophy. I think it even made your coach cry.

  4. he’s been part of the worse run defense during his whole career. I’m sure a selling point isn’t his run stopping ability.

  5. Seahawks are clueless….lol..offseason champions once again! When the real season starts….losers once again…what a miserable place to live..Go ahead Seacluck fans tell me how good your going to be this year and how your gonna own the west just like last year…haha..seattle……the little brother of the 49ers..

  6. They should make the Seagulls players have jerseys that look like flannels and pants that look like cuordorys..Then just put spikes on the bottom of some Bergen stocks. .The logo on there helmet could be a cloud with rain falling down..Or maybe tears..last year a bunch of hippie seagull fans got beer poured on them and say they were “verbally assaulted” at candlestick…boo hoo..I mean really is there a place in this country as lame as seattle?

  7. He dropped off big time last year. Also the injury bug seems to be playing a major part in his ability to stay on the field. Buyer beware. Best of luck to you Matt, a Class guy.

I heard your mom’s house won an award. For lameness, not English.

  9. Hey norcalloser, the only place worse is San Fancisco and by the way Loser, the hippy movement started in San Francisco on the corner of Haight and Ashbury. What a typical Loser, LOSER!

  10. Come on Reggie, I’m trying to give you the benefit of the doubt but its getting tough. DHB, Huff, Tollefson cut…so be it. Not much lost there.

There were two guys I wanted back, Wheeler and Shaughnessy. Wheeler got seriously paid, so I can live with losing him (even with noone currently on the roster to replace him). But are we even going to make an attempt to keep Shaughnessy? He and Houston are young and talented, we can build with these guys.

Also, why the he!! is Slowlando McLame still on this roster? Lets get our chit together Reg.

I’m not a Seahawks fan, but I think it’s hilarious how all you new band wagon Niners fans conveniently forget that your little brother beat the freakin piss out of you on prime time television last year. Stop pretending you guys weren’t crapping your pants when the Seachickens almost rolled the dirty birds. If you got a rematch….you would not have even sniffed a super bowl appearance. That first match up was embarrassing for you. Get real.

  12. Njraiderfan – produced? He sucked out loud last year. He got no , pressure on the qb and no one on that d stopped the run. He has Tashkent and potential but this praise is odd. I don’t think the writer of this blurb or most if the commenters were watching Raider games last year.
