As humans go, new Viking receiver Greg Jennings is young. As dogs go, he’s ancient. As NFL players go, he’s somewhere in between.
Either way, Jennings is definitely sensitive about the fact that he’s pushing 30.
“I’m not old,” Jennings said during his introductory press conference, via NFL.com. “I’m 29. I’m not old. Let me throw that out there. I am 29-years-old, I will not be 30 until well after the league year starts.”
Regardless, he’ll be 30 on September 21 -- early in the 2013 season. But he nevertheless scored a healthy contract from the Vikings despite his age and the fact that he didn’t have a very good contract year.
Regardless of how his career goes from this point forward, Jennings has squandered seven years of goodwill in Green Bay. He chose between being reviled like Brett Favre or worshiped like Donald Driver, who soon will have his own street.Instead, the only thing Jennings will have in Green Bay is his own cheer.
