Adrian Wilson, the 12-year veteran and five-time Pro Bowler whose time with the Cardinals came to an end last week, is heading to New England.
Wilson signed a three-year deal with the Patriots, Mike Jurecki of XTRA Sports 910 reports. Wilson said this week that he wants to play three more years, so if things go well he’ll end his career with the Patriots.
Although Wilson’s play fell off last season in Arizona, he’s a smart and savvy veteran who will fit in well on Bill Belichick’s defense. Safety was a need on that defense, and Wilson fills a hole in the secondary.
With Wilson off the board, there aren’t many good veteran safeties still available in free agency. For the teams still looking to add a safety, Ed Reed’s price may have just gone up.
