Abraham indeed visited Dolphins

On Friday, we tried to sift through conflicting reports on whether free-agent defensive end John Abraham visited the Dolphins.

Since then we were told by a very good source that Abraham did indeed visit the Dolphins.  Another source confirmed that the visit happened.

As best we can tell, the visit occurred Tuesday night.  And because the Dolphins didn’t sign Abraham, the Dolphins have no reason to trumpet the failure to get their man, since that would disrupt the perception that the Dolphins went undefeated during early free agency in a different way barely 40 years after their 17-0 season.

The former Falcon has visited the 49ers and Seahawks, along with the Patriots.  Other potentially interested teams include the Saints, Titans, and Buccaneers.

  1. How can this be classified a failure for the Dolphins?

Bringing a guy in for the price a club wants is what matters. Not landing every person who comes through the door.

  2. In the future, just report what Armando Salguerro says and then say it likely is not true. His track record has been terrible

  3. 1ST of all who cares? Secondly I’m sure there be a new article tonight that he “infact” did not visit the Dolphins! What a joke.

  4. Quite the traveler. All about the dollars. When it’s like that I wouldn’t want him.

  5. The Dolphins “failed” to overpay a old man. Who said Abraham was their “man” anyways. This brides maid stuff is entirely overblown and getting tiresome. But, what should we expect from the talking head gallery that had Miami winning 1 game last season.

  6. I really want to know what the Dolphins have done to this particular writer. Such bias. This is a non story. If they had signed him he would have written something about “money burning a hole in Ireland’s pocket” I’m sure.

  7. An over the hill guy cut by a going nowhere team visits another going nowhere team. No one cares.

The real news is the best player in the NFL will reportedly be doing light running by the end of the month. RG3 makes even Adrian Peterson seem like a beaten down old man. RG3’s healing powers are as indescribable as the Redskins dominance. HTTR.

  8. My favorite pft dolphin articles are the ones now saying the dolphins have gotten past being a team that players didnt want to go to, when in fact that was something pft made up based on their dolphin hatred and a money hungry steeler. I also wonder the odds of my post making it past the screeners.

  9. The Dolphins are signing very good players and yet some people like Florio want to take shots at them. I heard Florio “trumpeting” for weeks how players would use Miami as leverage to land better deals with other teams. Obviously reverting back to the Ryan Clark statement that “no one wants to play for Miami”.

Now that Miami landed the top overall player on the market in Wallace and other top players available at their respective positions(Ellerbe, Wheeler and Keller) it is all about how Miami is overpaying and trying to buy votes for the stadium renovation. Blah blah blah. If Mami didn’t make any moves this offseason they would be blasted as being cheap and not being able to land top players. There was no winning for the Dolphins in the mind of Florio. He had the negative spin no matter what happened.

So the Dolphina “failed” to land Abraham. Where are the stories about the Patriots, 49ers and Seahawks also FAILING to sign him?

  10. Assuming that his leaving the building without a contract is a failure on their behalf is nonsense. South Florida and the positive direction that team is heading towards obviously looked pretty attractive to the #1 free agent WR on the market.

  11. Mr. Abraham, do yourself a big favor and join the patriots, a real contender, instead of this years ‘winners of the offseason’ award, formerly given to the eagles and the redskins (countless times!)

  12. This is a non story. Winston visited without a deal yet for some reason Abraham doing the same is news.

You just got to laugh at some of these stories….

Remember when they use to call the Patriots champions?
    Pettridge Farms remembers

  14. Why would anybody want to play for the Pats? To get underpaid? To watch a d-bag coach get all of the credit?
Pitt, Indy, Giants, Saints, Packers, and Ravens have all won Super Bowls (Pitt and NY twice) since the last Belicheat win. Can the New England fans please shut up? Thank you.

ROFL!!! You got me laughing pretty hard on that one.

    RW > RG3

As for Abraham glad he isn’t a Seahawk… looks too much like a diva…

  16. Mike, being dead serious here. I as well as many Dolphin Fans, I’m sure would really like to know what the Dolphin’s ever did to you to warrant this Dolphin hatred. Absolutely any chance you can you take a shot at them. Seriously, what gives?

  17. I STILL don’t understand the overpayed for wallace thing…….if he accepted the steelers contract extension of 5 years 55 million, would they say the steelers overpayed for him? So the dolphins payed only one Million more per year than his oirginal team offered and that he declined…and thats overpaying? sounds like RIGHT ON THE MONEY…i was surprised it wasnt 65 million or more…then i would agree to overpayed……just sayin….
