Redskins outside linebacker Rob Jackson has drawn a four-game suspension to begin the 2013 regular season, Howard Balzer of the Sports Xchange reported Wednesday.

According to Redskins beat reporters Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan in Washington D.C. and Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Jackson is appealing the suspension. Balzer, however, has indicated that teams have been told of Jackson’s suspension, which infers that the appeals process is over, according to Balzer. Also, Rich Tandler of CSNWashington.com reports that the NFL has confirmed Jackson’s suspension, meaning the suspension has been upheld, per Tandler.

Per Jones, who cited a source, the suspension is tied to a medication for pain.

Jackson started 14 games for the Redskins in 2012 after Brian Orakpo suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in September, recording 37 tackles and 4.5 sacks and intercepting four passes. The Redskins re-signed him earlier in March.

Both Jones and Paulsen reported that the club knew Jackson faced NFL discipline before the team brought him back.
