As of now, the Wednesday meeting between the Redskins and cornerback Antoine Winfield is still on the books.

According to a report from Mike Jones of the Washington Post, however, that meeting could still wind up getting cancelled. Jones spoke to a person familiar with Winfield’s thinking who told him that the former Viking has received other offers and “might” cancel his visit to Washington to accept one of the offers from “at least two different teams.”

That said, Winfield is also reportedly “intrigued” about the prospect of joining the Redskins. Since he’s yet to accept one of the reported offers, the suggestion is that Winfield is looking for something more than those teams are willing to pay. Creating a bidding war, real or perceived, would be a good way to get that offer.

Jones’ report has no indication of the other teams with interest. The Vikings are believed to be in contact with Winfield, whose departure from Minnesota had more to do with his salary than his performance in the 2012 season.
