In Osi Umenyiora’s 10 seasons with the Giants, they had a winning record seven times, made the playoffs five times and won the Super Bowl twice. But Umenyiora says none of those Giants teams has the talent of the Falcons team he just joined.

Umenyiora said he hopes the veteran leadership and Super Bowl experience he brings will be the difference for the Falcons this year.

“A lot of times, being able to get to that game or win that game is not even about the coaches or the organization,” Umenyiora said. “This team is the most talented team I’ve seen in my life, probably. But it’s not going to be about coaching. It’s going to be about what the players are able to do, and you need that veteran leadership. You need guys who have been in those games and can tell you about exactly what happened.”

The Falcons were close but not quite good enough to get to the Super Bowl last season. Umenyiora believes he can make this the year they get to the top.
