The Lions and ex-Jaguars defensive tackle C.J. Mosley are closing in on a contract agreement, Adam Caplan of The Sideline View reported Wednesday.
The Jaguars released Mosley on April 1.
If he joins the Lions, Mosley would figure as one of their top reserve interior linemen behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. The Lions lost key backup defensive tackle Sammie Lee Hill to the Titans earlier in free agency. Also, veteran defensive tackles Corey Williams and Andre Fluellen remain unsigned.
The 29-year-old Mosley notched career-highs in tackles (45) and sacks (2.5) in 13 starts for Jacksonville last season. He is entering his ninth NFL season.
