Brandon Jacobs trying to get Giants to notice him

You have to give Brandon Jacobs credit for trying.

The not-subtle former free agent running back is trying to rekindle the flames with his old team.

Jacobs recently uploaded a photo to Instagram of him in his Giants days with the caption “Trying to get back in this uniform.” And a source told the New York Post that the Giants “have not ruled out,” bringing him back.

“He’d love to return to New York, obviously,’’ the source said.

The Post also reports that there have been no formal discussions toward that end, which make it look like Jacobs pining away and nothing more.

There’s a reasonable case to be made that he’d fit, with Ahmad Bradshaw gone, leaving the burden of the run game on David Wilson and Andre Brown.

But there’s also no compelling reason for the Giants to be in a hurry on this one. There hasn’t been much market for the 30-year-old running back after he pouted his way out of San Francisco, and he’ll probably be waiting there by the window in case they ever decide to call.

  1. I’m going to burn my Giants flag if they bring him back but refuse to pay Victor Cruz.

  2. This guy is unbelievable. Talked his way out of NY/NJ, now he wants back in. I hear they’re hiring security guards for the new mall they are putting in across from MetLife stadium.

  3. When the highlight of your career is trucking LaRon Landry maybe you should look at something else to do, with your college experience working at the zoo cleaning up and feeding the animals might be right in your wheel house. Scratch feeding the animals to many signs for you to read and follow.

  4. I wouldn’t mind bringing him back for the veteran minimum as insurance behind Brown and Wilson. Give him the ball 3 or 4 times a game to run over someone. He runs his mouth, but it fires up the team, and there are no vocal leaders at the moment. I always thought Tuck could step up, but its difficult to be a leader when your play has slipped so much. It’s clear Jacobs’ heart was always with the Giants, even when he was in a 49rs uniform.

  5. This guy is horrible, slow and was kicked off a Super Bowl team a few months ago. Why would any team need this bottom feeder? A lot of better RBs out there.

  6. If you want to get back in a Giants uniform Brandon, its easy. First go to Modell’s and go to the jersey section in the store, next buy yourself a nice fresh authentic David Wilson Jersey, because he is the future not you big mouth.

  7. They should bring him back. When he left last year, a part of the giants bullying identity went with him. After a year off he’s likely healed from those nagging injuries that robbed him of his effectiveness. Wilson and brown are still unproven and nobody picks up the blitz better than Jacobs. They won’t find a better fit for the minimum. Haterz need to get over it.

  8. Mara’s working on it…

He needs to figure out how much money to take from Demarco Murry & Alfred Morris before giving it to Jacobs.

All in the name of competitive balance.

  9. Me too, I think we have about the same chance of making the squad.

Obviously I’m kidding, but I don’t want this guy back on the team: Reese and co. should focus on developing the younger talent and bringing in a guy from what could be a very good value HB draft class this year. ie. only Lacy will be taken early and the G-Men could easily find a starting caliber back in rounds 2, 3, or 4.

Would love seeing Knile Davis/Bernard/Ball brought in to form a new Earth, Wind, and Fire with Brown and Wilson.

  10. I just don’t see a need for his fast ass car or his fast ass mouth on our team anymore…..

  11. Man…it’s really disappointing seeing my fellow Big Blue fans crushing Jacobs this hard. I don’t get it. It wasn’t that long ago that Jacobs gained the single most important yard in the history of our fabled franchise and arguably in the history of the entire NFL. For that reason alone, even if you’re a Giant fan that don’t like Jacobs anymore, you can at least give him the respect of saying “no thank you big guy, we’re going younger” rather than, for example, telling him to buy a Wilson jersey.

  12. By the way….I don’t care what anyone says….he’s better than Lumpkin or Torain.

  13. I was a Jacobs fan, even when his abilities were starting to become diminished, he added some spark to the team.

That being said, it would be a mistake bringing him back. The team needs to move on with Wilson and Brown. Possibly pick up a big, strong (and young) blocking fullback to clear the path for Wilson and his speed.
