A month after safety LaRon Landry left the Jets to sign a free-agent contract with the Colts, the Jets have signed his older brother.

Dawan Landry, also a free agent safety, signed with the Jets today.

A 2006 fifth-round pick of the Ravens, Dawan Landry played his first five seasons in Baltimore, three of them with Rex Ryan, now the Jets’ head coach, as the Ravens’ defensive coordinator. Landry signed with the Jaguars in 2011 and started all 32 games for them in the last two seasons. The Jaguars cut him last month.

The Jets, who have also lost safeties Yeremiah Bell and Eric Smith this offseason, are expecting Landry to start. Two of last year’s draft picks, sixth-round selection Josh Bush and seventh-round selection Antonio Allen, were atop the depth chart at safety before Landry’s signing.
