While there was a report yesterday that Antoine Winfield was close to a deal with the Seahawks, other teams are trying to get involved as well.

According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, one or two more “contenders” are trying to get into the mix for Winfield’s services as well, and no deal is imminent.

The Vikings are trying to mend fences to retain him, and the Redskins have shown interest.

But unlike a lot of unemployed guys who seem eager to jump on the first thing smoking, the 35-year-old Winfield seems willing to slow-play this one, and it’s resulted in having plenty of teams show interest.
