Bucs now balking at Jets’ price for Revis

Revis

The Darrelle Revis dance continues.

Two days after the Jets reportedly pressed the “pause button” on talks with the Buccaneers (as some of you asked, when did the Jets ever press “play”?), the Bucs are now privately expressing reservations about the asking price for Revis.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs aren’t willing to add a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick to the 2013 first-round selection (13th overall) that would be sent to New York.

And so at a time when it appears that the Jets hope to squeeze a little extra from the Bucs, the Bucs wisely are squeezing back.

It’s clear the Jets want to trade Revis, regardless of what they have publicly said. It’s also clear there’s no other team that wants Revis -- barring an eleventh-hour change of heart from a franchise that would have already decided not to pony up the picks and the cash needed to get the deal done.

It will be the Buccaneers or no one. Our money is on the Bucs. The only question is whether a three and a five will accompany the first-round pick, or something else.
