For all the changes they’ve made on defense this offseason, the Ravens are looking forward to getting a pair of their own back on the field as part of the makeover.
Ravaens coach John Harbaugh said that cornerback Lardarius Webb and linebacker Jameel McClain are both on pace to return by training camp.
Webb suffered a torn ACL in October, while McClain suffered a spinal cord contusion in December.
“Lardarius is on schedule, maybe a little ahead of schedule,” Harbaugh said, via Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. “He looks really good. He should be ready to roll by training camp it looks like. We’re going to make sure we don’t have a setback, that’s the most important thing. With Jameel, it’s the same way.”
While Webb’s injury is more conventional, the Ravens are being a bit guarded with McClain, since there were concerns if he’d be able to continue playing. He’s going to Los Angeles soon to work with a special trainer.
“That will be important for him,” Harbaugh said. “But it’s just the healing process There’s a certain type of a bruise that happens that caused his issue, but it’s going away, on schedule. We don’t know for sure, but I’m approaching it as if Jameel is going to be out there.”
Adding those two back to a revamped core will be crucial, as someone has to carry the message of the Ravens organization to all the new parts.
