Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has extra time to get ready for the opener.
At least an extra day.
The first Monday Night Football game of the year will feature the Eagles at the Redskins, by which time we’ll know if RG3 is ready to keep a fast pace in his return from a knee injury.
As has become tradition, ESPN gets to open with a doubleheader, with the Texans at the Chargers in the nightcap.
They also close strong, with an NFL Championship Game rematch (Falcons at 49ers) on Dec. 23.
Time has a way of making games that look good in April look bad later in the year, but it appears to be a solid slate for a network that has been left with some bad matchups in recent years.
