Rams work out Ace Sanders

As the St. Louis Rams continue to improve the collection of pass catchers who will help quarterback Sam Bradford realize his full potential, they are taking a close look at South Carolina’s Ace Sanders.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams traveled to South Carolina on Wednesday to work out Sanders. The player previously visited the Rams in St. Louis.

The five-foot, seven-inch Sanders, as Thomas points out, could provide an alternative to West Virginia receiver Tavon Austin, if Austin is off the board at No. 16. (We’ve recently reported that the Rams will be working out Austin in Morgantown at some point before the draft.)

Last year, the Rams apparently leaked to Thomas that the team had privately worked out receivers Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, and Kendall Wright. The Rams didn’t leak to Thomas that they had worked out receivers A.J. Jenkins and Brian Quick.

Eventually, the Rams took Quick.

So the real question may not be which receivers are the Rams telling Thomas they worked out. The real question may be which receivers did the Rams work out that they’re not telling Thomas about?
